Two young newbies to Seattle were looking to retire the cheaply done past remodels. We imbued their classy 1930’s home with colorful touches paired with thoughtful textures.

The original bathroom was very tight and from a previous 80’s era remodel. The couple decided to create a bathroom with rich earth tones, inspired by the clients’ travels to South America. They also decided to reconfigure the plan for a more seamless and efficient circulation. The remodel creates a master suite with a larger bathroom and a walk-in closet.

The kitchen, reminiscent of a cheap 00’s era remodel, was clunky, inefficiently laid out and separated from the living and dining areas. Our extroverted clients are big on cooking and hosting. So we removed the 1900’s decommissioned brick shaft and the old ceiling to maximize space and open up the kitchen to the rest of the house. We added a minimal bar counter to invite conversations and a quick bite.

We selectively placed curves as an aesthetic motif through the kitchen for better flow. Vibrant colors, rift sawn cabinets, fun light fixtures and textures were at the forefront of the design.
